Family, friends and television cameras filled the Don Bosco Prep auditorium Wednesday morning for National Signing Day -- the first day high school football recruits around the country can sign on the dotted line with the university of their choice.
Donning suits and wearing the hats of their respective soon-to-be colleges, seven Don Bosco seniors strode to the stage for their photo-op, in what has become an annual spectacle.
Two of the signees -- Mike Strizak and Tyler Samra -- hail from Fair Lawn.
Strizak, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound defensive lineman is headed to Boston College, where he'll likely be asked to play linebacker. ESPN.com describes Strizak as an inside linebacker prospect with good height, bulk and strength, who has a good nose for the football and plays the game with an edge. He's the son of former Republican borough council candidate Pamela Coles.
At 6-foot-3, 270-pounds, Samra was an anchor on Don Bosco's offensive line this year. He's headed to UConn where he's expected to make the move from tackle to guard or center.
Other Don Bosco signees included:
Darius Hamilton, DE - Rutgers
Leonte Carroo, DE - Rutgers
Mike Casimos, OL - Akron
Elijah Shumate, DB - Notre Dame
Kyle Sakowski, DB - Lafayette
