RBARI Asking Locals To 'Pause for Paws'

Holiday pet supply drive is on

The rescue dogs and cats at the Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. and Pascack Valley Meals On Wheels programs are in need of essential supplies. So, the organizations are asking residents to ‘Pause for Paws’ during a pet supply drive happening December 15 through January 31.

According to a flier sent out by the agencies, items needed include: wet or dry food in original, sealed containers, dog and cat treats, toys, collars, and brushes, dog leashes and crates, cat carriers, scrating posts, litter boxes and scoops, general cleaning supplies, bedding, blankets, towels, printer paper, envelopes and stamps.

Donations of the items can be made at the following locations throughout the drive period: Valley Brook Veterinary Hospital in Fair Lawn, Glen Rock Veterinary Hospital, Ho-Ho-Kus Veterinary HospitalWestwood Pets Unlimited, Closter Animal Hospital, New Bridge Veterinary Practice in Bergenfield, Splish Splash Doggie Day Care and Salon in Englewood, Camp Bow Wow in Midland Park, Pet Valu in Wyckoff, Park Ridge Veterinary Hospital, Emerson Animal Hospital, and the Pet Valu in Dumont.

Acoording to a release, dog training company Bark Busters set up the county-wide drive. “It is only with help from Bergen County residents and the help of pet care providers that we are able to accomplish our goal of getting food to the animals that need it most,” Greg Kleva, dog behavioral therapist and master trainer with Bark Busters and Sirius XM radio host, said in the release.

According to the organizations, 7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized each year because of overpopulation. Donations of these items could help “save a life,” the groups say.
